Term 3 has already
begun and the Preps are starting their new Integrated Studies
unit on ‘Wild and Domestic Animals’. This is a fantastic unit,
which begins with a wonderful tuning in excursion to the Royal
Melbourne Zoo. The children get to see first hand a range of
animals that are found in all different parts of the world! We
also attend a Zoo Exploration Lesson where the Preps learn about
animals and their features. They learn about which animals have
furs, feathers or scales and how these coverings help them
survive in the wild. The Prep children even get to touch and
feel these different coverings!
Throughout the
term, the Preps will expand on their findings from the Zoo and
learn about animal habitats, needs, physical features, and
similarities and differences of wild and domestic animals. Also
later in the term, the Preps have an incursion at the school
about Pet Responsibility, which is run by The Department of
Primary Industries.
This will be an
amazing term for the Prep children!
